178 The Rubin Conservatory of Music, Haifa We are pleased to congratulate the pianists - participants of the Rubinstein Competition, the organizers, and all the partners in this important venture, which is the celebration of music and the piano! The Samuel Rubin Conservatory of Music in Haifa was founded in 1949 by Zvi Rutenberg, who was its first director and was also one of the founders of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. Today, the Conservatory has some 300 students, coming from all over Haifa and the north. Many of the conservatory students come from the Arab society, and our musical and educational atmosphere unites Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Baha’i children, natives of Israel and new immigrants, in a common journey into the intricacies of the world of music. We, students, parents and teachers, are happy to be part of the Competition audience, and are proud of the privilege that fell to us, to participate in the selection of our ”audience favorite”. Music is an essential part of every person’s life. It enriches our lives, unites and brings us closer. We believe that those involved in music contribute peace and calm to our world, and allow themselves and the listeners to find a place of contentment and peace even in turbulent and tense times. Congratulations to all participants and good luck to everyone! Gidi Habert Director of the Rubin Conservatory of Music, Haifa Kedumim Congratulations and success to the Competition participants who worked and practiced for many years. Kedumim, the pioneer of settlement in Samaria, sees great importance in instilling the values of music - perseverance, listening, performing among our children and youth. These things are also important for the development of the soul and raise mature, responsible and valuable people. Music makes us better and enables us to realize the powers inherent in each and every one of us. I would like to thank the organizers of the Competition and I am glad that we have the privilege to be part of the Competition and enjoy the “pianists of tomorrow”. Hananel Dorani, Head of the Kedumim local council Youth Outreach
