149 Rules for the Junior Jury 1. Duration: The Junior Jury shall commence their duties from day one of the Competition. 2. Facilitator: The Junior Jury coordinator shall direct and guide Junior Jury members, according to the regulations, for the entire duration of the Competition. 3. Voting: Junior Jury gatherings for the purpose of voting shall take place at the same time as those of the Senior Jury. 4. Stage I and Stage II: Junior Jury regulations for judging competitors shall be identical to the regulations for the Senior Jury with regard to Stage I and Stage II 5. Award of encouragement: After the ballot at the end of Stage II, the Junior Jury shall receive the list of competitors selected by the Senior Jury to progress to the finals. If the two lists (that of the Junior Jury and that of the Senior Jury) differ from each other, Junior Jury members shall vote for their preferred competitor from those not chosen for the finals by the Senior Jury. This pianist shall receive an Award of Encouragement. The voting for the Award of Encouragement shall take place as described in paragraph 6 below. 6. Final Stage: The winner of the Junior Jury award shall be elected by ordinary ballot, from the six pianists who have reached the finals, where each member of the Junior Jury has a single vote. If there is no outright winner with more than half the votes, another ballot shall be held to choose between the two competitors with the greatest number of votes. In the event of a tie, a discussion shall be held, followed by an additional ballot. This process shall continue until the Junior Jury reaches a final decision. 7. Vote count shall be the responsibility of management representatives of the Competition who shall be present at the vote count. Results will be announced to the competitors and audience at the same time as Senior Jury results. 8. Junior Jury voting is confidential. 9. Junior Jury members shall not communicate any part of the Jury’s proceeding to any person outside the Jury meetings. 10. Junior Jury decisions are final and beyond appeal. 11.
