948 Access to medical services for people with developmental intellectual disabilities Dalia Nissim Abstract People with disabilities often encounter barriers when it comes to receiving medical services, either due to the staff's unfamiliarity with the specific disability and their special needs, or due to mutual concerns of staff and patients or inaccessible medical infrastructure and staff's lack of awareness and knowledge. This means under-treatment and non-exercise of their entitlement to receive the same medical service such as any citizen. Particularly difficult is the situation of people with invisible disabilities: mental disabilities, autism and mental disabilities whose gaps in the cognitive, communicative, social or behavioral areas can create additional difficulties in meeting professionals: difficulty in understanding instructions and guidelines, difficulty in organizing, remembering and performing required procedures, sometimes the situation so stressful that it does not allow a person to cooperate with the staff, formulate his words, have a conversation, sometimes it is the pressures and noises that do not allow him to concentrate, maintain peace and behave according to the norms of the place. This situation exists despite the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Chapter on page 299
