922 self-awareness, developing a coherent system of value priorities, enhancing the ability to cope with complex problem solving, making personal choices and sensitivity to the other. Learning occurs in groups based on the principle that meaningful learning occurs during social interaction. The chapter will present studies in which the model was applied with populations with communication and cognitive disabilities as well as with heterogenous populations of learners with and without disabilities. Recommendations will be raised that will focus on integrative education, which means teaching in heterogeneous classrooms without distinguishing between "special" and "ordinary". We will try to answer the question of whether and how didactic principles of teaching originating in special education can be applied in regular education. Finally, with a view to the future, we call for listening to the voice of the learner, involving him/her in the decisions made concerning his/her life.
