162 Evgeny Kissin - A tribute Recital to the Rubinstein Piano Master Competition and to Arthur Rubinstein Tuesday, 28 March 2023, 20:00 Charles Bronfman Auditorium, Lowy Concert Hall, Tel Aviv “Arthur Rubinstein has always been one of my heroes, both as one of the greatest pianists in history whose art is very close to my heart and as an outstanding human being: a true man of the world and at the same time a proud Jew and supporter of Israel. Even though I have never taken part in any competitions myself, I have a long relationship with the Arthur Rubinstein Competition. The very first solo recital I played in Israel back in 1994 was for the benefit of this Competition. For many years I was good friends with the Competition’s founder and long-time Director Jan (Jasha) Bistritzky. We spent lots of time together all over the world, and I’ll always cherish those moments. It is wonderful that the Arthur Rubinstein Competition continues to exist and flourish, and I am very happy to play another concert as a tribute to it” Evgeny Kissin Program: Bach: Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue BWV 903 Mozart: Sonata No. 9 in D Major K.311 Chopin: Polonaise op. 44 in F sharp Minor Interval Rachmaninov: - Lilacs - Prelude op. 32 No. 8 in A Minor - Prelude op. 23 No. 10 in G Flat Major - 5 Etudes-Tableaux op. 39 Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 9 A Tribute Recital
