182 Mayor's Greeting to the Arthur Rubinstein Competition 2026 This is not the first time creativity and hybridity have been needed to hold the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition regularly. In recent years, Tel Aviv-Yafo has hosted the Competition, whether in hybrid or fully live performances, amid the harsh realities of a global pandemic and ongoing struggles and wars. But no matter how much the ground shook under our feet, time after time, the competitors and the music they played for us were a fountain of precision, eternal truth, and beauty. It is a great pride and a great privilege to host, for the 18th time, the most prestigious, demanding, and important Competition in the world, which invites hundreds of gifted pianists from around the world to compete, to judge, and to listen. I do not doubt that even in the hybrid format imposed on it this year, which combines live music from the Kronberg Academy in Germany with narration and discussions from here, we will have a tremendous celebration of music, culminating in a live, festive final event at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and the Hall of Culture. At all times, and even more so these days, the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition serves as a steadfast ambassador of the cultural and artistic spirit of the State of Israel, whose beating heart is Tel Aviv-Yafo. I am grateful to the organizers of the Competition for their determination to hold it despite all obstacles. I wish us all an unforgettable listening experience.
