Its main focus is the promotion of education, art, culture and scientific research. Among the Foundation's programs in Israel and the European Union are the sponsorship of studies in business administration and NGO/NPO management of humanitarian programs supporting the development of civil society, democratic values, human rights and co-existence. The Marc Rich Foundation has been a proud sponsor for more than thirty years of annual concerts of the Israel Philharmonic. The Foundation's initial involvement started earlier in the 1980s with a broad program of support for various IPO activities and events, with an emphasis on the development of the next generation of Israeli musicians. Marc Rich, the Founder of the Foundation, passed away in June 2013. The Foundation ended its activity in Israel in December 2014. The concert perpetuates Marc Rich's contribution to the Israel Philharmonic.
